the code
Two and a half years, three startups, one theme: shipping code was never the hard part. Here's a closer look at the decisions I've owned.
Building the foundation, not just the feature
I joined Axy as its first employee, alongside two other early hires. The product was a prototype — we were building from a clean slate, with no existing architecture to follow or break.
Knowing the product would grow into several distributed services and multiple front-end apps, I pushed for shared foundations early: a shared UI package, a shared types package, shared utilities, and common infrastructure — error handling, logging, PostHog analytics — wired in from day one, before duplication and inconsistency became real problems.
The foundation held seamlessly as the product expanded. Engineers could spin up services and ship features without rebuilding the basics — no rewrites, no re-architecture, just faster shipping. Today, I own full-stack feature development, review pull requests, collaborate with developers through pair programming, and build custom workflows that improve how we develop and ship software.
AI-accelerated delivery
Solo-built a full HR management system — attendance, calendar, authentication — in two weeks using Cursor, back when AI-assisted development was still new. That instinct carried over to Axy, where I now help configure the teams Claude Code workflows to keep everyone shipping faster.
Express → Fastify migration
Led a full migration of an existing system from Express to Fastify alongside a complete UI redesign — modernizing the stack's performance and maintainability without disrupting active development.
Internal tooling for the team
Built an internal npm package for logging and debugging, giving engineers across AlphaBIs systems consistent visibility instead of each team solving observability on their own.
